This year, BSBG celebrated its 40th year in operation in the UAE. When such a milestone is reached, it presents an opportunity to reflect momentarily on the journey so far, to celebrate some of the success and accomplishments, but also, perhaps more importantly to think to the future.
In 2016, to coincide with the 40th anniversary and demonstrate the vision for the future, BSBG as a business has undergone some changes; both to the organisational structure and in the form of a complete rebrand. This rebrand includes the introduction of a new logo, our slogan – “more than architecture”, and the brand new BSBG website, which we officially launch today!
These actions and initiatives will enable BSBG to expand its presence and capabilities across the Middle East, but also on an international scale. Below we go into more detail regarding some of the most significant changes and events for BSBG in 2016.
Back in May BSBG celebrated its 40th year anniversary. This significant milestone for the practice was marked by the release of a coffee table book, entitled 40:40. The book documents our journey so far, highlighting 40 moments from across the 40 years.
In a special celebratory event, held at the East Wing Gallery in Limestone House in DIFC, the book was launched and the biggest achievements of our journey were commemorated. The memorable evening saw many of BSBG’s longest serving staff rewarded for their years of loyal service, and was attended by many of our long-term clients and partners who we regard as being central to the success we’ve enjoyed.
We are now expanding our presence and capabilities both regionally and internationally and as such, after 40 years, the ‘G’ within the BSBG acronym will no longer stand for ‘Gulf’. It has instead become an abbreviation of the word ‘Group’. This reflects the ambitious international vision of the BSBG leadership, which will see more international projects and initiatives unveiled shortly. It also means the website URL has changed to become www.bsbgltd.com.
The brand in itself has naturally evolved throughout the last 40 years, as the practice has developed from a modest architect’s office into a multidisciplinary practice – delivering intelligent design and creative solutions to complex projects across multiple sectors. But a coordinated and synchronised effort began to upgrade and advance all areas of the brand in 2016 – from increasing our social media activities and presence, to a new brand identity and website.
At the beginning of the year, a new slogan was unveiled to capture the essence of the BSBG brand. ‘More than architecture’ perfectly encapsulates BSBG’s expansive range of services, referencing the interior design, engineering, contract administration, construction supervision and lead consultancy capabilities; whilst also speaking to the practice’s flare for design, innovation and technical excellence. A contemporary new logo design accompanies the new slogan – a visual representation of the company BSBG has become. The design is clean, simple and understated, whilst retaining the classic black box element synonymous with BSBG throughout the years.
Having transformed the brand identity, published the 40:40 book and celebrated the historic achievement of 40 years in the UAE in style, the project to redesign and relaunch the BSBG website began. This would complete a momentous year for the practice, and today this final step of the 2016 transformation is complete!
The new website design is distinct, clean and more modular, in keeping with the changes made to the brand earlier in the year. The website brings with it a new level of improved usability, functionality and upgraded content targeted at the requirements of the modern-day user.
